Privacy Policy
CTRLplay collects the minimum amount of data needed to make our games work. This page explains what we collect, why, and how to make us forget you.
Scope
This policy applies to all games and services published by CTRLplay (the "Studio", "we", "us"), including but not limited to BatonDrop and WordDrop, and to this website. If a specific game has additional data practices, that game's listing will link to a supplemental policy. In the absence of a supplement, this policy governs.
What we collect
We collect only what is necessary to operate the game and improve it.
- Device identifier. A reset-able advertising ID provided by the operating system, used to distinguish one install from another for crash reporting and ad serving. We do not link this ID to your real-world identity.
- Gameplay statistics. Anonymous metrics such as score, level reached, runs played, and time-to-fail. Used to balance difficulty and detect bugs. Never tied to a real-world identity.
- Crash and diagnostic data. When the game crashes, a diagnostic report including device model, OS version, and a stack trace is sent to us so we can fix the bug.
We do not collect: contact information, location, contacts, photos, microphone or camera data, or any sensitive personal information.
How we use it
- To improve the game. Aggregated gameplay statistics inform balance and design changes.
- To diagnose crashes. Diagnostic reports are reviewed to find and fix bugs.
- To serve optional rewarded ads. If you choose to watch a rewarded ad, the advertising ID is shared with our ad partner so a relevant ad can be served.
We do not sell personal information and we do not use your data to build a profile of you across other services.
Third parties
We rely on a small number of vendors to operate the games. Each is bound by their own privacy policy.
Data retention
Crash and diagnostic data is retained for 90 days and then deleted. Aggregated gameplay statistics are retained indefinitely in a form that cannot be linked back to an individual install.
Your rights (GDPR and CCPA)
Whether you are in the EU, the UK, California, or elsewhere, you have the right to:
- Access the data we hold about you.
- Correct data that is inaccurate.
- Delete your data.
- Object to processing or withdraw consent for optional features such as rewarded ads.
- Port a copy of your data in a machine-readable format.
To exercise any of these rights, email us using the contact details below. We respond to verified requests within 30 days. We do not sell personal information, so the CCPA right to opt out of sale is automatically honored.
Children
Our games are rated for all ages, but they are not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
